The Rammer, or Gulper II, has been in development within the Uganda
Sanihub for some time. What is the current state of it development and is it on sale as a commercial
product?
The Gulper II started being constructed in Uganda around 18
months ago and I remember Steven complaining it was too weak and the handle broke. Is it now on
sale ? How many have been constructed and sold? Is it better than Gulper one? How is it working?
If I wanted to buy one , where would I go?
Can you share all technical drawing and the
modifications you have made? Thank you

Brian and the team in Malawi have been doing some excellent work with the Rammer and pumping up waste directly into the drums sitting on the pick up. This is not possible with the Gulper and point to the way forward regarding improving hygiene.
These are two great Rammer videos from the Malawi team. The first shows the extension pipe and the second an experiment with secondary pumping using a treadle pump.

SSG have been testing the Gulper II for about a month now, and the device seems to work quite well with no more breakages. Yes it does pump thicker sludge than the gulper I, making it an improved device.
I would say the device is on sale, but demand is currently so low that no one has purchased it yet. I currently don't see commercial demand for gulper IIs going beyond 5 devices per year, unless the demand is coming from NGOs.
SSG will probably be the main customer as we aim to scale up the piki piki emptying model, firstly in Kampala.
Sam from SaniHub has been working on the device, and can shed further light on its progress.

The pdf attached shows the work we have done on the Rammer and the sales made. We have trained one fabricator to manufacture Rammers in Uganda and he sales directly to clients both locally and abroad.
