Is there a good tool similar to the Water Point Mapper for mapping
toilets?

You can try Akvo as well (www.akvo.org). This is a smart phone based data collection tool.

If I can just add - you need to define clearly what it is you want to achieve - is it mapping coverage of whole communities or mapping individual toilets? And then how will the data be collected, and who is this for, for WaterAid's own use or for a sector performance monitoring tool?
The Sanitation Mapper is just that, a spreadsheet based mapping tool to visualize the the data. How we get the data into the spreadsheet is another issue altogether. In WaterAid we are beginning to standardise our tool for mobile data collection to be mWater and in future we are planning to transition some of the mapping functionality of the water and sanitation spreadsheet mappers over into this platform. If you would like to know more about this, talk to Arjen Naafs from the South Asia regional team or Petri Autio in PSU.

Dar Vijay,
Based on current experience, I can strongly recommend mwater - as it is freely available and very adaptable, and offers the option of updating easily. The only complication is that people need an android mobile phone, but those are cheaper these days than GPSes. Feel free to contact me how such a survey could look like.
