Hi John,

ACF did some work on this in Mongolia. Even at a larger scale than household level, they concluded that composting without adding heat was possible only in summer. However, they also concluded that it was possible (at least at a larger scale) to compost the entire year's waste during the summer. This is based on an actual research project - hope it's helpful. Of course, most cold places are not as cold as Mongolia.
